Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer located in the thin mesothelium, which is a slight protective tissue spreading over most all of the internal visceral organs inside the human body. It can be either benign (non cancerous) or malignant (cancerous), but is generally malignant. Most of the people who develop mesothelioma tumors have occupations where they get exposed to asbestos particles. About 2000 new cases are reported annually in the country.

The annual diagnosis rate is referred to as incidence of mesothelioma, or simply the number of instances of mesothelioma diagnosed every year. The incidence rate in the nation is just about 1 in 106,571 people or about 2,552 persons per year. The relatively low numbers are attributed to failures to diagnose the disease. Lawsuits have been filed when the person gets to know that the time of filing the case is too late and death is near. Most of the cases are filed at the “nothing-can-be-done” stage of the disease. These failure-to-diagnose cases attract extra attention to the disease, and the organizations and policies responsible for it.

If the records of the person prove him/her right, there is no stopping the case from winning.
